Applications open for Farmington Optimist Oratorial Contest

Applications are open through March 8 for the Farmington-Farmington Hills Breakfast Optimist Club’s 2019 Earl Friedman Oratorical Contest.

The event will be held on Wednesday, March 20 , 7:30 a.m., at the Jon Grant Community Center, 29260 Grand River, in Farmington Hills. Medallions and monetary prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners. The winner will move on to compete for a scholarship prize.

Applications are available at f2hoptimists.org. Completed forms should be mailed to Bruce Fowler, P.O. Box 2203, Farmington Hills, MI 48333-2203 or emailed to fowlerbe@sbcglobal.net.

Speeches should be between four and five minutes long, on the topic, “Is there a Fine Line Between Optimism and Reality?”. Time penalties will be assessed for finishing under or over the time limit. Contestants must be under the age of 19 as of October 1, 2019, and not enrolled as a degree-seeking college student. There is no minimum age.
