Weigh in Monday on new Farmington coffee shop

Farmington Planning Commission members on Monday will hold a public hearing on plans for a new coffee shop that will occupy the historic Masonic Hall’s first floor.

Coldwater-based Blue Hat Coffee would make minimal changes to the interior of the building at Grand River and Farmington Road, but will add a barrier-free entrance on the north side and a raised patio on the south side.

The proposal includes a significant change to the Masonic Hall parking lot, currently designated as an untimed, public lot under an agreement with the city. If the plan is approved, the five westernmost spaces would be reserved for Blue Hat staff, with the remaining 17 spaces becoming time-limited.

The public hearing is the only item on the commission’s 7 p.m. agenda, which is posted (with supporting materials) at farmgov.com/City-Services/Government/Agendas-and-Minutes/Planning/2019.aspx.
