WDIV-TV reports that authorities believe the fire broke out between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sunday morning. Followers of Farmington Voice on Facebook said the house was a total loss, and the family lost everything.

According to an mlive.com report, the homeowners’ cats, including two world record holders, are missing and may have been lost in the fire. But the owners haven’t lost hope: Michigan’s world record cats missing, feared dead in house fire

The Farmington Hills Fire Department issued a nixle.com alert about the fire Sunday with a warning about heavy smoke in the area of I-696 and Farmington Road.

This is a developing story.
