See what’s happening at Wood Creek Elementary

Wood Creek Elementary School, 28400 Harwich Dr. in Farmington Hills, will host an Open House on Sunday, March 4 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to showcase the newly renovated school.

Wood Creek is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IBPYP). The IB Primary Years Programme challenges students to think for themselves and take charge of their learning. The program allows them to explore local and global issues and ideas in real-life contexts.

As students develop the attributes of the IB Learner Profile, they demonstrate respect for themselves and others and take positive action to enact change in their school and community. One of the requirements to be certified as an IBPYP, is that students in Kindergarten through fifth grade receive weekly instruction in Spanish.

Wood Creek’s opportunities for student leadership include LOC student-run Credit Union, Safety Patrol, National Elementary Honor Society, and the Bear Leadership Action Team. Enrichment offerings include Game Crazy, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), Green Team, Run Club, Junior Optimists, Primary Years Program (PYP) 5th Grade Exhibition, and Math Pentathlon.

If you cannot make it to the Open House and would still like a tour of the school, contact principal Christopher O’Brien at 248-785-2077.
