UPDATE: Meteoroid lights up the Farmington area sky

UPDATED: Hundreds of local residents took to social media Tuesday evening reporting a bright flash of light and loud boom that shook the ground and rattled windows.

NASA confirmed late Tuesday to The Detroit News that the object was a meteoroid entering Earth’s atmosphere.

The incident, which occurred at around 8 p.m., was seen, felt, and heard from Wisconsin to Windsor, Ontario. Farmington Voice Facebook followers reported seeing the bright flash light up the sky:
