Local Optimists honor Captain as Farmington Hills Firefighter of the Year

The Farmington/Farmington Hills Optimist Club on Wednesday named Captain Jim Donovan as its Fire Fighter of the Year.

Donovan joined the Farmington Hills Fire Department as a Paid On Call Firefighter in September of 2000. He was promoted to Sergeant in July of 2007, Lieutenant in July 2010, and Captain in May of 2013.

Donovan coordinates the department’s recruitment and hiring process, and he oversees the annual Paid On Call Fire Academy every year. More than 20 citizens and business owners have written letters of appreciation for his service, and he has received more than 30 departmental honors, including seven life-saving awards.
