November snow delays Farmington leaf pick-up

A heavy snow just days into the City of Farmington’s leaf pick-up has delayed the program, but how long remains unknown.

City crews were out on Maple Avenue after last week’s snowstorm picking up leaves left curbside.

Each year, the city sets up two leaf pick-up periods in neighborhoods as a supplement to the regular yard waste collection offered on trash collection days. The calendar moved forward this year, in response to requests from residents and city officials.

Public Services Director Chuck Eudy said in an email that his department is monitoring the melting snow and collecting leaves that were curbside before the storm. When the snow is melted, he said, a new schedule will be publicized.

“There is no estimate of the delays to the program,” he said. “Public Services will do their best to collect the leaves that are placed curbside during the second collection.”
