Lights… camera… Farmington! Chevy commercial filmed downtown

Get ready for your close-up, Farmington.

A crew will film a television commercial for Chevrolet on Sunday, October 21, resulting in intermittent lane closures and no parking on Grand River west of Warner Street to Farmington Road, between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Public Safety Director Frank Demers said Monday that motorists will have the option to detour or to simply wait a few minutes for each closure. Most of the action will be happening from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The commercial has a holiday theme, so crews will be making snow and putting up decorations, City Manager David Murphy said. Parking for their vehicles will be provided by downtown property owner Dave Cornwell.

Demers said two Public Safety officers will direct traffic, with the production company covering overtime costs.
