June 10 event in Farmington marks suffrage anniversary

To commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the date Michigan lawmakers voted to ratify the 19th Amendment, the Governor Warner Mansion Warnerettes Parasol Drill Team will host a special presentation on Monday, June 10 in downtown Farmington’s Riley Park.

The 7 p.m. event will include a brief re-enactment of suffragists Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Alice Paul and Lucy Burns, who were all instrumental in winning women the right to vote. A dress rehearsal of the team’s “parade struts” will follow.

This event is free and open to the public.
