Homeless man dies on Grand River in Farmington

A man who was homeless and known to frequent downtown Farmington died over the weekend on a park bench along Grand River.

Farmington Public Safety responded to the scene at around 7:45 a.m., Director Frank Demers said, and found the man slumped on the bench. An autopsy completed by the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the man died of natural causes.

The man’s name has not been released; authorities are still trying to locate his family. The Public Safety Department had no previous contact with him.

“It’s just very tragic,” Demers said, “a very sad way to go.”
