The Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays will change trash collection dates for most residents in Farmington and Farmington Hills.
Monday routes will be collected as usual on December 24 and 31. Garbage and recycling will not be collected on Tuesday, December 25, and on Tuesday, January 1, which means pickups will be delayed by one day through the rest of the week. Friday’s pickup happens on Saturday.
Place paper-based holiday cards and wrapping paper, and aluminum holiday cookie tins and lids in your recycling cart.
Items with glitter or metallic decorations should go in with the regular trash, as should bows, ribbon, cellophane wrapping, foam packing, wires, loose plastic parts, ornaments, and strings of holiday lights.
Christmas trees may be dropped off for free self-serve recycling at Glen Oaks Golf Course from December 26 through January 27, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the east end of the clubhouse parking lot at 30500 W. 13 Mile Rd.
Remove all lights, decorations, and tinsel from the tree. Large quantities from commercial lots will not be accepted. Trees placed at the curbside will be collected with the regular trash. For more information, call 248-858-0906.
