UPDATE: Power was restored overnight after high winds associated with a cold front moving across southeast Michigan knocked it out late Thursday night for more than 3,100 DTE Energy customers in Farmington Hills.
According to the utility’s website, the lights went out shortly after 10:30 p.m. in an area that stretches north of I-696 between Orchard Lake and Inkster Roads. Smaller outages were also scattered around that area.
The National Weather Service has issued a high wind advisory that remains in effect until 10 a.m. on Friday. Winds are expected to continue gusting up to 45 miles per hour through Friday morning, with below zero windchills possible.
