The Farmington Musicale will host a March 4 recital recognizing the student winners of the group’s 50th annual Awards for Musical Excellence Competition.
The 3 p.m. concert will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 23255 Gill Rd. in Farmington Hills. The Musicale’s annual competition in vocal, piano, and other instrumental categories is open to musicians in 7th-12th grades who attend Farmington public or private schools, to children of a Farmington Musicale member, and to those whose primary residence is in Farmington or Farmington Hills but attend school elsewhere.
This year’s judges – Jan Lamb (vocal), Linette Popoff-Parks (piano), Scott Wolf and Dennis Carter (instrumentalists) – awarded 13 students either a first or second place prize. Four students were recognized by the judges with Honorable Mention certificates. Prizes for best pianist and best instrumentalist, regardless of age, will be awarded at the concert.
The concert is free of charge and open to the community.
