The Farmington Civic Theater kicked off Friday Night Live concerts during the winter of 2017 with the focus on area singer-songwriters. Almost three years later, the series is now a fixture in downtown Farmington. The next concert will be November 8 with The Judy Banker Band and Mike Gentry. Friday Night Live is presented by St. Joe’s Medical Group.
The Judy Banker Band, from Ann Arbor, is scheduled to release its new indie-country rock album in January and will premiere some of the album’s singles on November 8. Concert-goers will also hear songs featuring a more traditional folk-country vibe. Judy’s always loved the dobro, pedal steel and fiddle. The band blends those sounds with strong percussion and electric leads for a high-energy performance.
Special guest Mike Gentry opens the evening playing his old Gibson guitar. Mike’s love for music began early in life. The first time he put a guitar in his hands, he was attending Dexter High School and fronted the local bands Max and True Story. These days, the singer-songwriter performs around southeastern Michigan with his engaging, relaxed style. He’ll be accompanied by cellist Sara Gibson.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available in advance at Eventbrite.com and at the Farmington Civic Theater box office or at the door for $15. Cash only at the theater. A co-production with Go2Guy Productions.
