Farmington’s Sidecar Slider Bar gets patio approval

Sidecar Slider Bar on Grand River in Farmington will get more outdoor seating, but not the way owners envisioned it.

The south patio of Sidecar Slider Bar will soon be ready for tables to go with those chairs.

Planning Commission members on Monday unanimously approved a change to the original plan for seating around two fire pits on the south (Grand River) side of the building. The city’s Economic and Community Development Director, Kevin Christiansen, said that after working with city and fire department officials, a decision was made to offer simple table service.

Owner Scott Pelc said the proposed kidney-shaped design will be squared off and enclosed – as required by the Liquor Control Commission – with fencing and decorative planters.

Pelc said the move increases the seating from 16 to 24, and the restaurant’s parking lot and restrooms can handle the additional capacity.
