Farmington Schools robotics teams receive grants

The Michigan Department of Education (MDE), Office of Data, Information, and Research Management, has awarded competitive FIRST Robotics Grants to 23 Farmington Public Schools’ robotics teams.

This year, MDE awarded grants to 462 public and nonpublic districts across the state, totaling more than 1,375 FIRST Robotics and Science Olympiad teams. Local teams who received awards include:

  • Iron Sharks – $200
  • ROBO RAVAGERS – $200
  • Robotic Dragons – $200
  • Spot Botz – $200
  • STEAM Stallions – $200
  • AQUA Bots – $100
  • Aqua Ducks – $100
  • AQUA Kids – $100
  • Aqua Dolphins – $100
  • AQUAMANDERS – $100
  • Blue Aqua Spots – $100
  • Deep Sea Divers – $100
  • Lego Legends – $100
  • Robotic Steam – $100
  • Rocking Water Kids – $100
  • Steam Team – $100
  • STEAM Team – $100
  • STEAMy Waterfalls – $100
  • Super Lego SCUBA Splash – $100
  • The Water Jumpers – $100
  • The Water Squad – $100
  • The Water Bots – $100

The purpose of the grant is to improve mathematics, science, and technology skills by participating in events hosted by FIRST in Michigan. The intent of the grant is to increase the number of pupils demonstrating proficiency in science and mathematics on the state assessments and to increase the number of pupils who are college-and career-ready upon high school graduation.
