Farmington Schools food drive for Goodfellows starts Nov. 1

The Farmington Public Schools community will collect nonperishable foods November 1-20 for the Farmington Area Goodfellows annual Holiday Assistance Program.

Farmington Area Goodfellows
Goodfellows volunteers pack and deliver boxes of nonperishable food items to families in need during the holiday season.

All schools, along with support facilities, will fill up containers of non-perishable canned and boxed food items. Donations are also accepted at Farmington and Farmington Hills City Halls, the Farmington Hills Ice Arena, and the Costick Center in Farmington Hills.

The Goodfellows rely on the drive to fill food baskets that are delivered to needy families in the community during the holiday season. Delivery day this year will be Saturday, December 22.

According to a press release, in 2018, the Holiday Assistance Program served more than 323 children, 75 seniors, and 32 developmentally disabled adults in Farmington and Farmington Hills. Monetary donations allowed the program to purchase gift certificates for families to purchase perishable food items and clothing.
