Farmington Schools board workshop to address superintendent search

Farmington Public Schools trustees will meet tonight with a facilitator who will help them with the search to replace retiring Superintendent Dr. George Heitsch.

While the search and hiring process is the only agenda item, trustees have said the facilitator may also help them resolve internal board conflicts. In a 5-2 vote on January 29, trustees ousted president Terri Weems. On February 1, they voted along the same lines when electing newcomer Pam Green as their third leader in just under four months.

Also during the January 29 meeting, former trustee Mark Przeslawski shared a printed version of a strongly worded text message he said he received from board Vice President Terry Johnson, after refusing to support the removal of Superintendent Dr. George Heitsch before his July 1 retirement.

The February 11 workshop will be held at the Schulman Administrative Center, 32500 Shiawassee in Farmington. It is open to the public and will be recorded for later viewing at tv10.viebit.com.
