The artwork of Maddie Nicole May will be shown December 1-10 at Materia, a downtown Farmington pop-up art gallery founded and curated by Farmington resident Aj Cooke.
May’s mixed media exhibit will be celebrated with an opening reception from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Embracing themes such as domesticity, tradition, and gender, May’s collages display everyday recognizable objects mingled with a solitary personal perspective; focusing in on the delicate layered intimacy of relationships.
May earned a B.F.A. in Printmaking from Kendall College of Art & Design (KCAD) of Ferris State University. She lives and works in Grand Rapids, where she is the owner and curator of Bend Gallery. Her work has been exhibited locally and nationally.
The public is invited to the opening reception. Materia is located inside The Village Mall at 23616 Farmington Road (former Artisan Knitworks) in Downtown Farmington.
The pop-up gallery and exhibition are made possible with the support of the Downtown Development Authority and the Village Mall Merchants.
