Farmington Hills police investigate Monday shooting

As Farmington Hills Police investigated a Sunday night crash that left a Farmington Hills mother and child dead, a motorist flagged down officers to report his vehicle had been hit by gunfire.

Police say that shooting happened around 12:05 a.m. at Orchard Lake Plaza, Orchard Lake Road and 14 Mile Roads. The plaza is about two miles north of the crash scene.

The driver, who said the vehicle was struck several times by gunfire, suffered minor injuries caused by broken glass, and was taken to an area hospital. A dark colored vehicle, possibly a pickup truck with tinted windows, was seen in the parking lot that time the shots were fired.

According a press release, detectives and evidence technicians are actively investigating the report, and the motive for the shooting remains unknown. Officers will increase patrols in the area.
