Farmington Hills Police Dept. hires former Farmington officer

A former Farmington Public Safety officer is now patrolling the streets of Farmington Hills.

Donald LaPorte celebrated with family and friends during a swearing in ceremony held September 5 at the Farmington Hills Police Department.

LaPorte had served in Farmington for two and a half years. He graduated in 2015 from the Wayne County Regional Police Academy and earned an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Schoolcraft College during the same year. He has also completed the Huron Township Fire Academy (Firefighter I & II) and Huron Valley Ambulance Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) basic training.

LaPorte is assigned to the Patrol Division of the Operations Bureau as part of the Field Training program.
