Farmington Hills Police Department will host another Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 28, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., anyone can drop off expired or unused prescription drugs at Police Headquarters, 31655 W. 11 Mile Rd. This effort will safely and anonymously remove potentially dangerous controlled substances (any medication requiring a prescription) from homes throughout the community.
On April 29, the Police Department collected 156 pounds of prescription drugs, which were then destroyed by the DEA in accordance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations. On that date, over 5,500 sites nation-wide collected a record amount – more than 450 tons – of prescription drugs in an effort to help stop substance abuse and save lives.
Prescription drugs are accepted anonymously in any type of container; no identifying information is required.
