Farmington Hills candidates file late contribution reports

Both Farmington Hills candidates for mayor, along with two Farmington Hills city council candidates, have filed campaign reports required for contributions of $500 or more received after the close of pre-election contribution reporting.

Michigan campaign finance law requires candidates to report large contributions, whether individual or cumulative, between the pre-election closing date – this year, on October 20 – and the third day before the election.

Mayoral candidate Vicki Barnett reported $1,000 campaign contributions from Gary Sakwa, owner of Farmington Hills-based Grand Sakwa; Rebecca Sakwa; and Nicholas Donofrio, Jason Miller, and William Eisenberg, who all listed Grand Sakwa as their employer.

Her opponent Richard Lerner reported a $500 contribution from Ammar Alkhafaji, owner of Southfield-based Veritas Limited.

Council candidate and current mayor Kenneth Massey also reported a $500 contribution from Alkhafaji.

Council candidate T.R. Carr reported making a contribution of $1,633.89 to his own campaign.

No Farmington city council candidates filed late contribution reports.
