Farmington Hills author’s novel lands on ‘Notable Books’ list

August SnowThe Library of Michigan has named August Snow, a novel written by Farmington Hills resident Stephen Mack Jones, to its 2018 Michigan Notable Books list.

According to the Library of Michigan website, the list includes 20 exceptional books published in the previous calendar year that highlight Michigan people, places and events. Also, “Selections include nonfiction and fiction books that appeal to a variety of audiences and cover various topics and issues close to the hearts of Michigan residents.”

An award-winning poet and playwright, Jones is a Kresge Art Fellow and the 2017 Farmington Area Artist in Residence. His first novel, August Snow, tells the story of a man who returns to Detroit’s Mexicantown neighborhood with plans to return and help revitalize the place where he grew up. When an acquaintance is found dead, his plans shift to find the killer.
