Farmington High senior Brendan Unger won a $1,000 scholarship from Bloomfield Hills Financial for his third place finish in Bloomfield Hills Financial Stock to Scholarship Challenge.

The goal of the contest is to help high school students in the Tri-County Metro-Detroit area understand the basics of investing by participating in a risk-free environment. Students are given access to a simulated online trading account where they leveraged their starting capital of $100,000 and independently made investment decisions to buy and sell stocks and mutual funds.

Unger’s investment philosophy is “investing is like digesting. You can’t live without it.”
