Farmington drive-by investigation still ‘very, very active’

Farmington Public Safety Director Frank Demers said Monday that an investigation into a September drive-by shooting remains “very, very active.”

Officers who responded at around 10:30 p.m. on September 20 found shell casings and damage to a home in the 23500 block of Wesley Street. Witnesses reported as many as three vehicles driving away at a high rate of speed.

While residents were home at the time, no one was injured.

Demers said evidence is still being processed. Investigators have help from three federal agencies and a dozen local law enforcement agencies on the case. The department has identified suspects who may have committed crimes in other cities.

“I really believe we’re getting close,” Demers said. “We’re making awesome progress.”
