Farmington city officials will on Monday talk about ordinances related to marijuana-related businesses and fireworks during a 6 p.m. study session and their.7 p.m. regular meeting.
Council members earlier this month approved the first reading of an ordinance to ban the marijuana businesses allowed under Michigan’s new recreational marijuana law. They added language that would ensure the ban comes up for discussion again after the State of Michigan has set up permitting rules for those businesses.
Officials also approved the fireworks ordinance first reading; it aligns local law with changes in state law that reduce the number of days when consumer fireworks can be used.
The study session also includes presentation of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) budget. During the regular meeting, the Public Safety Department will present its annual report, and City Manager David Murphy will submit the city’s proposed 2019-2010 budget.
