Take heart, friends – the start of downtown Farmington’s event season is less than four months away.
On Monday, Farmington city council members approved the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) calendar, along with operating dates for this year’s Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market.
DDA Director Kate Knight presented the 2018 events schedule, which includes a new Wednesday concert series. “Lunch Beats” will launch June 3, 12 p.m.-1 p.m., at the Walter E. Sundquist Farmington Pavilion and Riley Park, and continues through August 8.
Here’s the rest of the calendar:
- Thursday, April 26, 5 p.m.-9 p.m. – Ladies Night Out
- Saturday, June 2-Sunday, June 3 – Art on the Grand juried art festival
- Fridays, June 8-Aug. 24 (except July 20) – Rhythmz in Riley Park outdoor concert series
- Thursday, Sept. 20-Friday, Sept. 21 – Harvest Moon celebration
- Saturday, Nov. 25 – Small Business Saturday
The Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market will open its 25th season on Saturday, May 19 and close on Saturday, Nov. 3. The market, in its 25th season, has grown from a handful of farmers and merchants to feature 15 growers amid a weekly complement of 40 vendors.
“The market has grown to become a destination of choice and a source of community pride
encouraging public gathering,” Gajewski said in a statement to officials. He said weekly entertainers, children’s activities, cooking demos, and ongoing partnerships with local non-profits and food assistance programs all help make downtown Farmington “a shining representation of our community’s family friendly brand image on a continuing, reliably repeating basis.”
