Farmington area trash collection comes early Friday due to heat

Farmington and Farmington Hills residents with Friday trash and recycling collection are being asked to put our their bags, cans, and carts early this week.

Dangerously high temperatures in the forecast has led Waste Management, the cities’ contracted waste hauler, to put its drivers on the roads Friday around 6 a.m., when temperatures are cooler. Residents are asked to place containers at the curb on Thursday night.

According to the National Weather Service, the mercury is expected to rise above 95 degrees on Friday, with the heat index at 109. The City of Farmington Hills has opened the Costick Center on 11 MIle Road as a cooling center.
