To help curb the problem of prescription painkiller abuse, the Farmington Hills Police Department (FHPD) will host a Prescription Drug Takeback on Saturday, April 27, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at police headquarters, 31655 W. 11 Mile Rd.
This effort, a partnership with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), allows residents to safety and anonymously dispose of medication. The 16th National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day in October 2018 collected more than 197 pounds of prescription drugs from homes throughout the community, which were then destroyed by the DEA in accordance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
Residents of any city may participate in Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Prescription drugs may be dropped off in any type of container. To learn more,, call the Investigative Division at 248-871-2770.
