Community meets FPS superintendent finalists Wednesday

Farmington Public Schools residents have an opportunity on Wednesday, May 29 to meet both finalists for the position of Farmington Public Schools superintendent, as they tour the district before a second round of interviews that evening.

Dr. Robert Herrera, CEO of Benton Harbor Area Schools, and Dr. Sarena Shivers, superintendent of Redford Union Schools, will both speak during a community/parent forum, open by invitation only due to limited space, held from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at East Middle School, 25000 Middlebelt Road in Farmington Hills.

During an open meeting, FPS trustees will interview Herrera at 6:30 p.m., and Shivers at 8:15 p.m., at the Schulman Administrative Center, 32500 Shiawassee in Farmington. The meeting will also be broadcast live on TV-10, and live-streamed at https://farmington.vod.castus.tv/vod.

Feedback forms can be found on the District’s website, farmington.k12.mi.us under the Superintendent Search section and will also be available in the board room during the interviews.

While officials will deliberate following the interviews, the selection process includes a second date in June if they are unable to reach consensus.

Clarification: The focus group at East Middle School is open by invitation, due to limited space.
