While regular trash and recycling bin collection will go on as usual in Farmington and Farmington Hills, Simple Recycling pick-up of clothing has been suspended, and collection of large items will stop next month.
Waste Management announced on Wednesday that trucks will stop picking up bulk items on April 1. This includes “large pieces of furniture, mattresses/box springs, refrigerators or freezers (with doors removed), stoves, and other such items incidental to housekeeping in single-family residences.”
According to RRRASOC (Resource Recovering and Recycling Authority), the Simple Recycling suspension following Monday’s “shelter in place” executive order is related to the closure of “downstream retailers to which they deliver clothing”.
Farmington has also pushed back the return of yard waste collection, which was scheduled the first full week in April.
All the changes continue until further notice.
