Farmington area residents are invited to the Saturday, Sept. 30 grand opening of the city’s latest park.
Officials will cut the ribbon at Flanders Park, 32600 Flanders St., at 11:30 a.m. Local musicians will perform, and food will be available for purchase. Learn more on Facebook.
The park was created as part of the Riverwalk of Farmington housing development on the site of a former elementary school. Farmington Public Schools closed Flanders, William Grace, Wooddale, and Eagle Elementary in 2010.
Houses are also going up at the Wooddale site on Oak Forest Drive in Farmington Hills. William Grace on Shiawassee east of Middlebelt is now a dog park, and the Eagle Elementary building on 14 Mile in West Bloomfield, still stands vacant.
