Local author Kendra Montante is looking for local Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Cub Scouts to help bring a little Halloween fun to children hospitalized at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.

Montante works for Farmington Public Schools. Her children’s book, Booing – A Halloween Tradition, tells the story of a family (her family) being “booed” and how they passed the “boo” on. To “boo” someone, pack two bags with treats, place them on friends’ and neighbors’ porches, then ring the doorbell, run, and hide.

The book comes in a kit with a cute stuffed ghost designed to be hung in your window once you’ve been “booed.” Those who’ve been booed then have to boo two other families.

Boo PatchMontante will be meeting with Scout troops in September and October to share her book and talk about “paying it forward” and kindness. She has also created one-of-a-kind Boo patches. Scouts will earn those with acts of kindness in making cards and pictures for sick kids and creating and delivering “boo” bags.
