Farmington City Council meets

Monday, Oct. 2, 7 p.m., City Hall, 23600 Liberty St. Among other things, officials will discuss development proposals for the former 47th District Court building and changes to the city’s parking ordinance. The full agenda is posted at farmgov.com.

Farmington Hills City Council candidate forum

Tuesday, Oct. 3, 7 p.m., Farmington Hills City Hall. Farmington Hills Council of Homeowners Associations will host this event to give four candidates running for three open seats an opportunity to answer questions.

Thursday, Oct. 5, 7:30 a.m., Scrambler Marie’s, 27909 Orchard Lake Rd., Farmington Hills. All five Farmington city council candidates are expected to attend and answer a set of prepared (but not published) questions. The public is welcome to attend this event hosted by the Farmington Rotary Club.

Call to Action Coalition breakfast

Friday, Oct. 6, 7 a.m., Costick Center, 28600 W. 11 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. The Call to Action Coalition will kick off National Substance Abuse Prevention Month with its annual breakfast. Speakers will talk about the impact of substance abuse and domestic violence and how to help people struggling with those issues. 2nd Annual Roll Out the Market Polish Festival

Express Yourself workshop

Saturday, Oct. 7, Orchard United Methodist Church, Farmington Hills. Stand with Trans will host a one-day workshop in Farmington Hills for transgender youth (ages 12-22), parents of trans individuals and gender-expansive children (ages 6-11). Star Wars Reads Day

Saturday, Oct. 7, 1 p.m.-4 p.m., Farmington Community Library Main Library, 32737 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. This Star Wars celebration will include a costume contest, movie showing, a Lightsaber Fighting demonstration with Terra Prime Armory, games, crafts, scavenger hunts, photo ops, free books, and prizes.
