Labor Day storm may bring high winds, ‘torrential’ rainfall

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for portions of southeast Michigan, including Farmington and Farmington Hills, in effect until 11 p.m. Monday.

According to a special weather statement, dime-sized hail and winds in excess of 40 miles per hour are possible.

“Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead to localized flooding… Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms,” the NWS statement read.
