Farmington Hills teen accused of murdering mom faces adult court

A Farmington Hills teen accused of pushing his mother out a window to her death will be tried as an adult.

Farmington Hills Police released a statement Monday indicating that the teen now faces a charge of 2nd Degree Murder, which carries a potential life sentence. He was arraigned via video in 47th District Court late Monday afternoon and remains in custody at Children’s Village in Pontiac.

Officers responded Aug. 21 to 911 call from a home on Howard Road, south of I-696 between Halsted and Drake Roads. The caller said a woman was unconscious as the result of an accident.

Police and paramedics were unable to revive the 35-year-old woman. Detectives took the son into custody after discovering evidence that his mother’s death was not an accident.

The teen is scheduled to appear in court next for a Pre-Examination Conference held Sept. 15. Police have not released the teen’s name or any other personal information, but expect to provide more information at a later date.
