Can you take one more? 12 Mile Road project begins August 14

Replacement of bad concrete on 12 Mile Road between Haggerty and Farmington Road begins August 14, according to the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC).

Completed in partnership with the City of Farmington Hills, the project will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction.

Southbound Drake Road will be closed to traffic at 12 Mile for approximately 19 days beginning approximately Sept. 15. The detour route for southbound Drake Road traffic will be 11 Mile Road to Halsted Road to 12 Mile Road and vice versa. Local traffic and access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.

The project will cost approximately $2.6 million, of which $2.1 million comes from the federal government. The remainder is a local match shared by RCOC, Farmington Hills and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party Program).

The project is expected to be completed by mid-November.

13 Mile Road between Haggerty and Inkster Roads in Farmington Hills also remains under construction, with new Consumers Energy utility work delaying the opening of 13 Mile Road between Halsted and Drake.
